Training Programme
Working and communicating with European colleagues: A practical approach (for Japanese)
Designed for Japanese employees working in Europe, this programme will teach you everything you need to know to better understand your European colleagues, and become a more efficient manager and communicator. Special emphasis is put on the local culture and customs in the country where the programme is held.
Duration: 1 day
Audience: Japanese working in Europe. There is no prerequisite for attending this programme.
Languages: The programme is delivered in Japanese
Program:
- Facts about Europe which help explain its cultural foundation
- Key concepts of the various European cultures
- Significant ways in which the Japanese and European ways of doing business differ (e.g. meetings, decision-making, negotiation, socializing, information sharing)
- Working more efficiently with Europeans: How do Europeans see Japanese? What are their difficulties working with Japanese? What do they expect from their Japanese colleagues? What can Japanese expect from European staff?
- Case studies
- Communication: How to become more effective in communicating with non-Japanese colleagues
- Protocol and business etiquette
- Q&A
The trainer will illustrate the points discussed with examples from his/her own experience working with Japanese and share insightful anecdotes. The trainer is European and fluent in Japanese enabling the participants to freely ask any questions and receives tips and advice on how to best manage Europeans.
Expected Outcomes: By the end of the training, the participant will:
- Have a deeper understanding of key concepts of European cultures and work practices and how they differ within Europe and from his/her own
- Be more comfortable in managing and motivating his/her team
- Have learned to be more efficient in his/her communications with non-Japanese colleagues
